BYP is unique, being the only youth club in West Yorkshire which specialises in delivering all of its youth work through the performing arts. We combine the best bits of a theatre school and an amateur dramatics group in a youth club setting.

Encore

Encore is a new performing group for those who are too old to attend one of Bradford Youth Players' youth clubs but who would like to continue to contribute to BYP through the performing arts. The group was formed owing to requests from ex-members and local residents for an adult group which adopted a similar ethos and approach to BYP, and although Encore does not fall under the BYP youth club umbrella, it does come under the auspices of the Friends of Bradford Youth Players.

Encore is not funded by BYP, and does not contribute to BYP's commission from Bradford Council, but any profits from Encore events and productions are put towards BYP to help ensure that the youth clubs can continue to offer young people high-quality activities and opportunities.

Encore also incorporates an important training and skills aspect, since it is run by group members, and its productions offer ideal opportunities for trainee directors, choreographers and musical directors, as well as stage managers, wardrobe managers and lighting/sound technicians to develop and enhance their abilities.

All Friends of BYP who are too old to join one of BYP's youth clubs may perform with Encore on payment of the performing fee (see below). If you would like more information on Encore, or would like to join the group, please contact our trustee Gordon Pearce.

Friends Membership Rates

Membership of the Friends of BYP runs from September to August each year, and costs £15 for the first member in a household. Further people at the same address only pay £10 to join the Friends.

The membership fee reduces to £10 for all Friends who join after Christmas, and £5 for all Friends who join after Easter.

Performing Fee

Any Friend who wishes to participate in BYP performing groups, Act 1, Act 2, Just Drama and/or Encore, must pay a performing fee of £5 in addition to their Friends membership fee.

This contributes towards insurance and other costs associated with taking to the stage.

Financial Policies

BYP has policies in place to ensure that no young person is excluded from our activities for financial reasons.
